Refrain From Assisting Minors To Register In Ongoing EC Exercise - Nana Akomea Cautions Political Parties

The Electoral Commission has commenced a nationwide limited registration exercise for persons who have turned eighteen.

The exercise began today, May 7 and is expected to end on Monday, May 20.

EC chair, Jean Mensa, who announced this at a media briefing yesterday in Accra, said the 21-day exercise will be conducted in 785 electoral areas and 25 public Universities in the country.

The EC has made projections to register 623,000 new registrants for the exercise to augment the 910,000 new registrants registered in 2023, according to Jean Mensa.

Commenting on the exercise on Peace FM's morning show "Kokrokoo", Nana Akomea issued a stern warning to all political parties, admonishing them not to repeat the culture of registering minors.

"Don't go and gather children you know are not 18 years old" to participate in the limited registration exercise, he briefly advised.
