2024 Elections: We Need Kwabena Owusu Aduomi To Win Power - Ayeh-Paye To NPP

Former Ayensuano MP, Samuel Ayeh-Paye has advised the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to embrace unity following the Ejisu by-election.

The Ejisu by-election which was held due to the demise of the constituency's lawmaker, John Kumah, was a tough battle between the NPP parliamentary candidate, Kwabena Boateng, and Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, a former Member of Parliament for Ejisu and a devout member of the NPP who contested as independent candidate.

Kwabena Boateng, at the end of the election, retained the Ejisu parliamentary seat for the New Patriotic Party.

He swept away 27,782 of the total votes cast representing 55.79% while his closest contender Mr. Aduomi polled 21,536 votes representing 43.24% in Tuesday’s by-election.

Discussing the aftermath of the election during Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" show, Samuel Ayeh-Paye appealed to the leadership of the NPP to reach out to Mr. Owusu Aduomi and convincingly rope him together with other members who have either defected from the party or have a conflict with them back into the party, noting that the NPP needs the numbers to emerge victor in the December 7 polls.

He reminded the ruling party of the constitutional requirement of a 50 plus 1 vote before a candidate could become a President, hence stressed that "no matter what Aduomi said or did, whether it was right or wrong, we have finished voting and he is a core member of our party" and his input is necessary to aid the NPP win the elections.

He also urged Mr. Aduomi to return to the NPP and admonished the party's leadership saying "when it reaches a stage like this where we are seeking power, it is not about we will accept you or not".

He emphasized; "We have no option. We must forgive and he must also forgive us and come together as one political party."
