National Cathedral: Akufo-Addo Planned To Deceive Ghanaians - Edudzie Tamakloe

An aide to former President John Dramani Mahama and private legal practioner, Godwin Edudzie Tamakloe says President Akufo-Addo planned to deceive Ghanaians and christianity with the building of the National Cathedral.

He says he weaponized it for votes.

Speaking on Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he explained that he could not fathom why the President is even bent on building the cathedral at this time when NABCO trainees have not been paid, Nursing trainee allowances have not been paid and the country is in serious debt crises.

"I would not have been bothered if the President was building a church in his home town or any where near a village as a way of honouring his promise to God," he said.

"The Christian community who will be beneficiaries of the cathedral have even refused to contribute to the building of the cathedral," he added.

He maintained that the National Cathedral project can not continue to waste the country's financial resources when it is a personal project of the President.

He said it is however not surprising that some men of God had to lie to defend the President on this project.

"Rev. Owusu Bempah who I revered so much had to come out and explain why he did what he did because the building of the cathedral has lost it's steam," he added.

Rev. Owusu Bempah in an interview with Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' said that there have been instances where he had to make up false statements so as not to make the government unpopular.

As a result of his public statements on the project, Rev. Owusu Bempah claims that he has been the subject of persistent attacks from some unknown faces.
