The Ministry of Health has shot down claims that anti-retroviral drugs were kept at the Port for a year.

The Ghana AIDS Commission and other groups expressed concerns over the delays in clearing essential healthcare medications, including crucial anti-retroviral drugs (ARVs), at the ports.

However, Isaac Offei Baah, Public Relations Officer, Ministry of Health, speaking in an interview on Peace FM’s morning show ‘Kokrokoo’ said there were no anti-retroviral drugs in the consignment that came in last year and were not cleared.

“It’s not true the medicines had not been cleared for a year . . . anti-retroviral drugs were not part of the 182 containers at the port,” adding “the drugs (at the port) were for Malaria and tuberculosis.”
