Osu Mantse Calls For Practicable Efforts To Address Climate Change In Ghana

Osu Mantse, HRM Notse Professor Nii Nortey Owuo IV has called for practicable efforts towards addressing climate change and its accompanying challenges to Ghana and the world.

He noted: "At various forums, we as a country have committed towards the sustainable development goals of the United Nations. We must now put our words to actions."

According to him, there is a need for Ghana to show leadership as a front runner in adapting to Sustainable ways of living to reduce the impact of Climate change.

He said, " We can today point to sustainable paths to industrial growth and diverse industries that have been raised around the movement for a more sustainable world.

From the cars we drive to the houses we live in, there are good people working on adapting them to a new sustainable way of life. This is the future. From sustainable and green energy sources to climate-sensitive construction and technology, more and more people realize this shift. Ghana has to take a lead in this movement in the sub-region as well as throughout the continent."

He added that whiles we strive for economic upliftment, we need to take into account the pressure it puts on the climate and take steps to ensure that we become a climate-conscious society.

Vice President of Development Bank Ghana, Dr Kwabena Frimpong also stressed on the need to support institutions that support efforts to address climate change and further highlighted the need for leadership at Government, institutional, societal and individual levels in addressing the menace.

The Sustainable Conference was held at the Marriott Hotel in Accra as part of Osu Mantse's drive to ensure environmental sustainability.
